What aspect of the Study Abroad experience
did you feel was most rewarding, either personally or academically?
"I’ve learnt that people are the same the world over. The three months were
filled with fun, self-directed study, exploring local sights, toughness,
boredom, excitement, challenges and eyes that continually want to see more.
As with all travelling, I feel I have grown and become a stronger person
through doing it. The friendships made with the locals, with fellow students
and with fellow travellers greatly enriched the experience and the bonds
created will last a long time. I would recommend the experience to anyone
you just can’t lose! - Julie Blinco, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences (Dec, 2000-Feb, 2001)
"The experience was character building being it made me more independent, i.e., I had to
organise things myself and get from A to B without having a clue!" -- Cameron Taylor, University of Massachusetts, 2000
"It was very satisfying for me to be able to adapt to a new culture and succeed in a learning environment
different to which I was accustomed." -- Kerrie Horrocks, Pennsylvania State University, 2000
"The opportunity to study abroad as an exchange student is a fantastic experience and one
that offers you the opportunity to really become a part of your host university. Whether you stay a tourist
or become a local is entirely up to you." -- Amy Burton, McGill University, Canada, 2000
"The opportunity to learn about self-dependence. I had to look to no-one but me, and grew a lot from it. I learnt more tolerance and
acceptance. I am more at peace with myself and my life." -- Monette Jackson, Purdue University, USA, 1999
"The opportunity to meet new people, experience a different culture,
travel, get a different perspective on studies." -- Simon Mays, University of Massachusetts, USA, 1999
"The friendships that I made and the times I spent with them I
wouldn't trade for the world. My exchange was truly the best year of my
life." -- Tymon Gray, University of Electro-Communications, Japan, 1999
